A murder incident that took place in Girne on August 6, 2026, created a significant stir in the area. M.O., arrested in connection with the killing of Nizam Allanazarov, has been brought back to court. The suspect stated that he had been hiding and waiting for Allanazarov’s arrival, believing that he was a victim of a sexual assault, and proceeded to stab him.
During the court proceedings, Investigating Officer Üzeyir Kürşat Koşer noted that the suspect has been detained since August 6 and faces various charges. M.O. admitted to the charges of “intentional murder,” “assault,” “possession of narcotic substances,” and “residing without permission.”
It was reported that the suspect detailed in his confession that he first injured a person named R.A. in the same vicinity, and after this incident, he stabbed Allanazarov. He admitted to stabbing Allanazarov seven times, one of which was fatal. Additionally, it was presented in court that drug tests conducted on the suspect’s body revealed traces of cocaine and cannabis.
Inspector Koşer stated that M.O. has been living in the country without permission for the past year and confirmed that the investigation has been completed. The court decided to send the suspect to jail as an unconvicted detainee for a period not exceeding three months until his trial begins.
Status of Three Suspects Linked to the Murder
Meanwhile, it was determined that R.A., A.G., and R.K., who were alleged to be involved in the killing of Allanazarov, had no connection to the murder. Police officer İbrahim Varol, who works in the Girne Special Investigation Unit, emphasized in his testimony to the court that these three individuals had no direct link to the murder.
Analysis revealed that R.A. had cannabis on him, while A.G. and R.K. were found with both cocaine and cannabis. It was learned that while R.A. and A.G. had work permits, R.K. had been residing in the country illegally for an extended period.
Judge Hazal Hacımulla ruled for R.K. to be sent to prison while allowing R.A. and A.G. to be released on bail, provided by two citizens of the TRNC. Furthermore, it was stated that R.A. and A.G. are prohibited from leaving the country.
The ongoing murder investigation has raised concerns among local residents, and efforts are continuing to clarify the incident.
