In a work accident that occurred in Haspolat, Nicosia, in 2026, four individuals were detained in connection with the death of 42-year-old MD Serazul Haq, who tragically lost his life.
Among the detained suspects are the company’s director A.P. (57), welder M.M.H. (35), foreman H.S. (63), and driver A.T. The court released these individuals under bail conditions, providing details related to the incident.
The police reported that the accident occurred on September 9, 2026, around 10:45 AM, at a workplace in Haspolat Industrial Area, managed by A.P. During the repair of a ramp attached to trailers, it was reported that M.M.H. and MD Serazul Haq attempted to support the ramp when it fell on Haq.
Injured MD Serazul Haq was transported to Lefkoşa State Hospital by ambulance after the incident. Despite all medical interventions, Haq could not be saved and passed away.
The police stated that the crime scene investigation team and an officer from the Labor Department conducted necessary examinations at the site of the accident. A report regarding the employer’s responsibilities was also submitted to the court.
Following investigations and examinations, the police reported that the suspects were detained, with A.P. serving as the director of the workplace, A.T. as a driver from Turkmenistan, M.M.H. as a welder from Bangladesh, and H.S. as the foreman.
The court not only banned the suspects from leaving the country but also decided that A.P. and A.T. should each deposit 50 thousand TL, while M.M.H. and H.S. should each deposit 170 thousand TL in cash bail. Additionally, each suspect was required to present two guarantors.
