On September 6, 2026, at Palm Beach in Gazimağusa, a routine check by the Tourism police led to the discovery of drugs on a young man named M.Ö.
The incident occurred around 2:30 PM. Police Officer Mustafa Zeki Arkınel reported that during the search, two pink pieces of paper containing drugs were found on M.Ö. Following this discovery, he was arrested on charges of drug possession.
In court, Arkınel provided information regarding the case, stating that the seized substances would be analyzed and that the investigation is ongoing. He requested an extension of the detention period, citing the need for the suspect to provide a statement and for other necessary procedures to be completed.
In response to the police’s request, the judge ruled that M.Ö. should remain in custody for an additional 8 days for the integrity of the investigation. It was noted that the progress of the investigation will depend on the results of the analyses to be obtained during this time.
