Recent assessments indicate that the price of Brent crude oil has fallen below $85 per barrel. This has resulted in a decrease in diesel prices in Turkey by 5.36 Turkish Lira. This drop in oil prices is being closely monitored in Northern Cyprus, which follows fuel price trends closely.
The shift in the U.S. strategy regarding Iran from military interventions towards economic sanctions, along with expectations that oil flow in the Strait of Hormuz may increase, contributed to the decline in Brent crude prices. As a result of these developments, the price of Brent crude dropped to $84.86, marking a decrease of approximately 2.8%.
This rapid decline in oil prices has had a direct impact on diesel prices in Turkey. In major cities like Istanbul, Ankara, and Izmir, diesel prices have decreased, now set at 77.37 Turkish Lira in Istanbul, 78.47 in Ankara, and 78.76 in Izmir. In eastern provinces, prices are expected to drop to around 80.21 Turkish Lira.
The application of discounts on diesel prices was reflected at the pumps after midnight. This volatility in fuel prices is being closely observed in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (KKTC), particularly for its potential effects on local prices.
Fuel prices in Northern Cyprus are expected to be updated in line with the price drops experienced in Turkey. The trend of oil prices in international markets is of significant importance for the region’s economic situation.
