The Ministry of Labor and Social Security has decided to extend the ban on outdoor work based on the latest information from the Meteorology Department due to high temperatures. This ban will be particularly effective between 12:00 and 16:00 and will continue until August 23, 2026.
According to the ministry’s announcement, during this period, everyone working in outdoor conditions will be unable to carry out their jobs between 12:00 and 16:00. This decision has been made due to the continuation of extreme heat.
Labor and Social Security Minister Oğuzhan Hasipoğlu stated that employees’ health will not be at risk as long as temperatures do not return to normal, urging employers to fully comply with the bans. The ban is not limited to the construction sector but encompasses all outdoor workers.
It has been noted that many occupational groups such as construction workers, public workers, agricultural workers, cleaning personnel, and newspaper employees will be affected by this implementation. Hasipoğlu emphasized that it is important to pay attention to whether workers are outdoors under extreme heat, regardless of the sector they are in.
During the period that the application is in effect, it is stated that inspectors from the Labor Department will continue their inspections in the field and workplaces. The minister requested that employers fully comply with the bans during these dates. He also thanked those employers who adhered to precautions in the past.
Oğuzhan Hasipoğlu indicated that they view occupational health and safety not just as a legal obligation but as a responsibility of working life. He emphasized that taking necessary precautions during this period is essential.
In a special call to employers, the minister stressed that they should not jeopardize the health of their employees. “Do not leave our workers in the heat. It is vital that you comply with the ban,” he said.
Additionally, violations of the ban on outdoor work in the sun can be reported via the Hotline 102 or WhatsApp Reporting Line. It has been indicated that the location of the workplace along with supportive information should be shared.
The ministry stated that inspections will continue and that all necessary precautions will be taken to protect the health of workers.
