In the country, rising living costs and lack of oversight are among the main issues negatively affecting individuals’ quality of life. Many individuals who spoke to Diyalog expressed their expectations from authorities regarding solutions to these problems.
Need for Oversight Amid Economic Crisis
Citizen Halil Bilener evaluated the current issues under three main headings: traffic, grocery prices, and the opposition’s stance. He emphasized that oversight must be increased to ensure market regulation and argued that traffic issues could be resolved through proper vehicle usage.
Sema Kondoz stated that the root cause of these problems is the lack of oversight. Addressing the economic crisis, she highlighted an increasing need for control and oversight across various sectors. She advocated for heightened inspections in food safety and education as well.
Emphasis on Technology and Education
Durmuş Ahmet pointed out that the economy has been struggling for 50 years, causing discomfort among the public. Additionally, he mentioned nepotism and bias as contributing factors. Economic losses are affecting the living standards of many citizens.
Serhat Balkalcı stressed the need to adopt a culture of merit-based hiring alongside rising costs and traffic issues. He noted that the country’s economy is going through a difficult phase and indicated that structural reforms related to unemployment are necessary.
Samiye Sebzeci mentioned that long wait times in hospitals are problematic and that there is also a shortage of medications. She highlighted the significant challenges faced by individuals living on minimum wage amidst rising living costs.
Nadir Uslugil considered education as one of the priority issues, emphasizing the importance of providing quality education to the youth. He believes that addressing other concerns could be achieved through education and expressed confidence in the effectiveness of training aimed at traffic issues.
Ahmet Cengiz Öztem brought attention to the excessive increase in property prices, stating that it is becoming increasingly difficult for future generations to own homes, thereby upsetting economic balances. Fatma Arır noted that rising costs and traffic accidents are the main issues needing urgent action to combat.
Ali Erkan highlighted the serious difficulties young people face in finding jobs, often leading them to emigrate. He further emphasized that a strong will is required to overcome challenges in healthcare and education.
