A man is facing charges of violence and making death threats after allegedly assaulting his ex-girlfriend while under the influence of alcohol in Minareliköy, near Lefkoşa. The suspect, identified as 35-year-old İ.B., reportedly attempted to kick down the door of his former girlfriend C.R.’s home around 7:00 PM on August 21, 2026.
During the incident, it is alleged that the suspect engaged in inappropriate behavior towards C.R. and assaulted her by choking her. İ.B. threatened the woman by saying, “I will kill you,” and also tore her shirt causing damage. The police reported that the total property damage amounted to 500 TL.
Authorities stated that the suspect was apprehended at the scene and has been formally charged. The court noted that İ.B. admitted to the crime and confirmed that he is a citizen of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (KKTC), indicating that the investigation has concluded.
The court ordered that İ.B. be released upon the payment of a cash bail of 40,000 TL and the signing of 300,000 TL surety agreements by two guarantors. Following the fulfillment of these bail conditions, the suspect was released to await trial for charges including “sexual harassment, willful damage, assault, intoxication, and inappropriate conduct and behavior.”
