During night operations conducted in Southern Cyprus, 12 individuals were arrested in connection with various offenses. Authorities from the Greek Cypriot police reported that those arrested are facing charges related to illegal residency, theft, public disorder, and assault on a police officer.
As part of these operations, a total of 559 vehicles were stopped, and checks were carried out on 716 individuals. Additionally, inspections were conducted at 41 establishments, resulting in three recorded complaints. It was announced that a total of 350 complaints were received regarding violations detected during traffic control.
Of these violations, 80 were reported to be related to exceeding speed limits. Furthermore, investigations are ongoing regarding 11 different traffic violation cases. During the police investigations, 10 vehicles were confiscated.
Under the traffic inspections, 157 breathalyzer tests were conducted, three of which resulted in complaints. Additionally, a preliminary drug test yielded a positive result.
These operations were emphasized as measures to enhance public safety, and it was highlighted that strict controls will continue. The importance of such activities for maintaining peace for both law enforcement and the public was underscored.
