On August 12, 2026, a traffic accident on the Güzelyurt-Lefkoşa highway resulted in the severe injury of 36-year-old Melis Luman, who lost her life after an 11-day battle. Following the accident, Luman was treated in the intensive care unit at Dr. Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital in Lefkoşa.
The accident occurred around 4:00 PM at the Akdağ area of the Güzelyurt-Lefkoşa road.
