In a theft incident that occurred in Lefkosa, a suspect named T.G. was arrested by the police for stealing two gold necklaces valued at a total of 30,000 TL. The details of the incident came to light during the court proceedings against the suspect.
The incident took place on September 8, in a guesthouse room in Surlariçi. T.G. reportedly took the gold necklaces from a gray box on a table belonging to an individual named E.P.Z. and vanished. During the police investigation, it was learned that T.G. confessed to the crime.
It was noted that the suspect sold the stolen necklaces for 16,000 TL at an unknown jewelry store. The police, when testifying in court, stated that with the money obtained, T.G. purchased three bottles of alcohol and six cartons of various brands of cigarettes. Additionally, it was recorded that T.G. transferred a portion of the money to his bank account.
The police indicated that the investigation is not yet complete, and some statements need to be taken while surveillance footage must be reviewed. For this reason, it was requested that T.G. be kept in custody for three days. The court approved the police’s request for detention and decided that the proceedings would continue.
