In a shocking incident that took place in Alayköy, a 49-year-old woman named E.T. fatally stabbed her husband, Cumali İsmail Taşdemir, while he was asleep with a 25-centimeter long knife. The incident occurred on August 22, 2026, around 10:30 PM in the couple’s bedroom. The woman allegedly attacked her husband with a knife after accusing him of trying to fraudulently appropriate her assets.
Police sources stated that following an argument between E.T. and her husband, she retrieved the knife from the kitchen and intentionally stabbed Taşdemir multiple times in the neck, waist, and back. After the incident, E.T. immediately went to the Nicosia Judicial Branch to turn herself in, and an investigation was launched against her for premeditated murder.
For a thorough examination of the incident, E.T. was brought before the court, where she received an additional three days in custody. Following the charges, it was revealed that E.T. had previously undergone psychological treatment and was using medication in conjunction with the therapy. In her statement, she claimed that her husband had devised a systematic plan to seize her assets.
The body of the victim was moved to the morgue of Lefkoşa Dr. Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital for an autopsy. Furthermore, it was reported that E.T. would be examined by a doctor at the Peace Mental Health Hospital.
During the hearing, the accused E.T. reportedly stated, “If he hadn’t tried to deceive us, this wouldn’t have happened.” The court decided that E.T. should remain in custody for three days to ensure that the investigation could proceed effectively.
