An incident in Gazimağusa involved an individual named I.L. who threatened a man with private footage in order to coerce him into dropping a €100,000 lawsuit. This situation resulted in I.L.’s arrest following a complaint.
According to police reports, I.L. recorded the complainant’s private footage in January 2026. Subsequently, on July 12, 2026, he sent this footage to the complainant’s phone, threatening to publish the videos online if the complainant did not withdraw the lawsuit against him.
During the investigation, police determined that the suspect had also sent the footage to another individual. Following the filed complaints, I.L. was arrested and brought before the court.
During the court proceedings, police officer Cafer Erenköylü detailed the incident. The officer indicated that the investigation had been completed and requested that the suspect be granted bail.
The court decided to allow I.L. to be tried without detention, ruling that a guarantor must sign a personal bail bond of 500,000 Turkish Lira. Further hearings on the case were scheduled to take place in the future.
