In Gazimağusa, Nigerian suspects K.T.C. and İ.D. were apprehended with a significant amount of drugs and were brought to court yesterday for detention during trial. On August 19, operations conducted by the Narcotics and Smuggling Prevention Directorate identified the two suspects inside a vehicle in the Karakol neighborhood.
Police officer Çağlar Kahyaoğlu reported that the suspects attempted to escape when stopped, but collided with another vehicle, which halted their flight. During the search, one gram of cannabis was found in the pocket of K.T.C.’s shorts. Additionally, a search of the suspects’ residence uncovered 1 kilogram and 200 grams of drugs in a clothing wardrobe, broadening the scope of the investigation.
Court Process and Transfer to Prison
The Gazimağusa Criminal Court decided to transfer the suspects to the Central Prison for their trial following the ongoing investigation. Both suspects will await their verdict in prison, for a period not exceeding 2 months.
The police noted that the investigation is complete and emphasized the seriousness of the charges, stating that the cases will be heard as soon as possible. This is viewed as a significant step in the fight against drug trafficking.
