Recently, various police operations conducted in the regions of Nicosia, Guzelyurt, Ercan, and Beyarmudu led to the seizure of several types of drugs. During this process, four individuals were arrested, and investigations related to the incidents continue.
Police Operations and Seized Substances
According to a statement made by the Police Press Office, in Nicosia, the Crime Prevention Unit teams found approximately 4 grams of marijuana during a search in the hotel room of a person identified as O.A. Additionally, 10 rolled cigarette butts mixed with tobacco, along with drug residue, were seized from the room.
In Guzelyurt, traffic teams stopped a driver identified as E.E. and, during the inspection, discovered four burned rolled cigarettes containing drugs and a piece of paper with drugs on it. A search conducted at E.E.’s home in Tuzla also revealed similar substances.
Developments in Ercan and Beyarmudu
At Ercan Airport, on August 6, a person’s luggage identified as M.A.K., who entered the TRNC, was checked by the narcotics detection dog Pamir. During the search, 10 cigarettes containing marijuana mixed with tobacco were found. This situation once again highlighted the effectiveness of security measures at the airport.
Lastly, at the Beyarmudu Land Crossing Point, approximately 5 grams of marijuana were seized from the vehicle of a person identified as A.Ö. As a result of all these developments, four individuals were arrested and taken to the police station for legal proceedings, and the scope of the investigation has been broadened.
