Statement from the Ministry of Agriculture
The Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources provided information about a situation identified in Molehiya during its weekly food inspections. It was revealed that a domestic product group contained high levels of pesticides. This situation raises concerns regarding food safety.
Inspection Process and Results
During the inspections conducted from August 7 to 13, samples were taken from both imported and domestic products. The pesticide analyses conducted in the state laboratory revealed that all of the imported products, that is, all 44 samples, were found to be clean. However, among domestic products, only 12 samples were deemed safe, while high levels of pesticides were found in products from a particular producer in Molehiya.
The Ministry stated that a decision has been made to halt the harvest of the identified products. These products, belonging to Süleyman Akar operating in the citrus region, cannot be harvested again until the examination process is complete. Such issues are among those that need to be closely monitored by both producers and consumers.
