The incident came to light when M.B.K. chased and attacked a young woman named Z.A. with a knife. After meeting Z.A. in January 2026, the suspect executed an attack on August 3 when his proposal to reunite following the end of their relationship was rejected. Notably, he stabbed Z.A. multiple times with a 23-centimeter knife during the incident. He then attempted to escape, injuring himself in the process.
The suspect’s attorney stated that his client had cut off ties with Z.A. over time. The attorney claimed that in July, Z.A. had a phone call with him in which she described being subjected to violence by her bosses, asserting that M.B.K. came to the country to help Z.A. This defense presents a new perspective on the background of the incident.
Woman’s Health Condition Critical
The police reported that Z.A. was in critical condition following the incident and had undergone three separate surgeries. It was noted that a piece of the knife was lodged in her head, and her health status remains serious. Documents collected as evidence at the scene included cell phones belonging to both the suspect and the young woman.
During the detention process, it was stated that M.B.K. presented his defense and admitted his guilt, narrating the sequence of events from the day of the incident. Over 60 testimonies have been collected, and their accuracy is still being verified.
Trial Process Has Begun
In light of the impact of the incident on society, prosecutor Şayan Ergüden requested that the suspect be tried while in custody. Ergüden emphasized that if M.B.K. is tried without detention, it could pose a threat to Z.A. The penalty period facing M.B.K. is aimed not to exceed three months.
Judge Zehra Yalkut Bilgeç highlighted the seriousness of the events and announced her decision regarding the suspect’s prison time. M.B.K. was sent to prison due to this shocking incident. The trial will continue as it examines all aspects of the event.
