As part of the “Wolf’s Den Operation” in İnönü, Gazimağusa, the investigation continues following the seizure of a total of one and a half kilos of drugs. The seized drugs, categorized as cannabis, were contained in 56 bags, which are legally recognized as evidence. Two suspects, identified as O.G.K. and Y.Ö., were brought back to court in connection with this incident.
Incident Development and Suspects’ Arrests
Police officer Mehmet Şemet stated in court that they received intelligence on August 7 regarding the discovery of drugs in the İnönü area. After assessing the information, police teams proceeded to the specified area and discovered 56 bags of drugs hidden at the base of the rocky terrain. A sting operation was conducted using the evidence collected at the scene to determine the ownership of the drugs.
In this context, O.G.K. was caught red-handed and taken into custody after visiting the scene on August 13. In his statement, O.G.K. admitted that he brought the drugs to the area together with Y.Ö., who was also located and arrested by the police on the same day.
Investigation Progress and Court Decision
Şemet noted that the investigation is ongoing, and efforts are being made to trace the source of the drugs and the suspects’ connections. He highlighted the awaited analysis results and requested additional time. The court granted an extension of 8 days for O.G.K. and Y.Ö. to remain detained for the completion of the ongoing investigation.
