On August 26, 2026, a drug operation was conducted in Gonyeli by the Narcotics and Anti-Smuggling Directorate, resulting in the seizure of drugs. Based on received tips, three young adults identified as A.G. (19 years old), H.S. (21 years old), and A.A. (20 years old) were arrested during the operation.
The police reported that as a result of the searches, a substance weighing approximately 16 grams, said to be cannabis, was seized along with a grinder believed to contain drug residues. Following the operation, the suspects were brought to court on charges of drug possession.
During interrogations, it was revealed that the arrested young adults had purchased 20 grams of cannabis for 330 Euros through a person they met online, admitting to consuming part of it. The police stated that the investigation into the incident has only just begun.
Additionally, it was announced that the seized substances would be sent to the State Chemistry Laboratory for further analysis. The police officers requested for the suspects to remain in custody to facilitate the investigation. The court approved this request, and the three young adults will remain in custody for one day.
It has also been learned that there is another individual wanted in connection with the operation. Efforts to deepen the investigation and illuminate the drug network are set to continue.
