The Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources announced the results of weekly food inspections conducted in the country. Between August 28 and September 3, 2026, a total of 50 samples from imported and local products were analyzed for pesticide residues at the State Laboratory. The results showed that 48 samples did not exhibit any residues or issues.
However, during the analyses, only one imported product, “Apple Galada” from Svs Tic. Ltd, was found to have excessive pesticide levels. Following the examination by the State Laboratory, it was determined that this product was unsuitable and was subsequently destroyed.
Situation of Imported and Local Products
Throughout the week, a total of 39 imported samples were collected for inspection. The detection of limit violations in only one of these samples indicated that the majority of imported products are generally healthy. This success among imported products is a significant development highlighting the effectiveness of inspections.
For local products, 11 samples were analyzed. Ten of these samples were found to be clean, while excessive pesticides were also detected in a cucumber product from Ali Gürbüz, produced in Mağusa. The Ministry stated that this product was also destroyed upon the producer’s request.
Ministry Statements and Conclusions
The Ministry emphasized the critical importance of monitoring pesticide residues for human health in food products. It was noted that these analyses are conducted regularly to ensure the safety of both local and imported products. Thus, the safety of food items consumed by citizens has been reaffirmed.
