A fraud incident in Nicosia led to the arrest of two medical students as part of an investigation into a fake car rental website. The suspects, identified as M.A.M. and B.S. from Nigeria, were brought before the court following the investigation.
According to information obtained by the police, on August 5, 2026, an individual was defrauded of 317,000 TL through a fake car rental site. Following the victim’s complaint to the police, an investigation into the fraud was initiated. The investigations revealed that the money paid by the victim was transferred to the accounts of B.S. and later to M.A.M.
M.A.M. was arrested on August 10, and his mobile phone was confiscated as evidence. After being detained, the suspect was brought before the court, which ordered a three-day detention period against him. B.S., on the other hand, was arrested the next day, on August 11, and his mobile phone was also seized as evidence.
The police stated that the portion of the investigation that could be influenced by the suspects had been completed and emphasized that both suspects were medical students. While a bail request was made in court, the court ruled to prohibit the suspects from leaving the country and ordered each to deposit 80,000 TL in cash as bail.
Moreover, the court required the signing of a 600,000 TL bond for each suspect. This development turned the fraud incident into a new opportunity for the medical students.
