Traffic Inspections in Cyprus
Significant results were achieved during traffic inspections conducted in northern Cyprus. In operations carried out yesterday, two drivers were arrested, and 41 vehicles were towed from the roads. Moreover, legal proceedings were initiated against a total of 397 drivers.
Traffic teams under the General Directorate of Police checked 2,187 vehicle drivers during these inspections. The checks aimed to monitor compliance with traffic rules. According to the data collected, 192 drivers were found to be exceeding the legal speed limits.
Traffic Violations and Fines
Many traffic violations were detected as a result of the inspections. Fines were issued to 15 drivers for driving under the influence, while it was discovered that 1 driver was operating a vehicle without a license and insurance. Additionally, 7 drivers were fined for driving without insurance, and 2 drivers received fines for using a mobile phone while driving.
Another traffic offense included not wearing a seatbelt, which led to fines for 7 drivers. The comprehensive inspections revealed various violations such as operating uninspected vehicles, driving without a vehicle registration, and failing to obey traffic signals. Based on these identified violations, a total of 103 drivers are facing traffic penalties.
