Prime Minister Ünal Üstel made an important announcement regarding social housing projects. He stated that applications for social housing, which will be implemented in eight different regions, will commence online on September 11, 2026, ensuring that the benefits reach the broader community.
It was noted that these new projects are being re-launched after approximately 30 years. The main goal of the projects is to enable young people to become homeowners. Üstel emphasized that social housing initiatives will become widespread across the country, targeting various segments of society.
Social Housing Projects and Application Process
Social housing projects will be applied in the regions of Dikmen, Çamlıbel, and Esentepe in Kyrenia, as well as in Maraş in Famagusta, Alayköy and Haspolat neighborhoods in Nicosia; and in Dipkarpaz in Iskele and Bostancı in Güzelyurt. Applications will be conducted through the official website of the Ministry of Interior.
Üstel reiterated, “We are fulfilling our promises in social housing projects one by one,” re-emphasizing the government’s goal of contributing to young people’s dreams of homeownership. It was also stated that these projects will not be limited to just acquiring housing.
Support for Producers and Payments
Support for producers is also on the agenda. Üstel stated that the total purchase amount for citrus producers’ crops is 828 million 132 thousand 545 lira. He announced that a portion of 607 million 148 thousand 950 lira will be paid to the producers tomorrow.
Stating that the payments will cover 75% of what the producers are owed, Üstel expressed that the remaining amount will be completed within October. The government is working to both enable young people to become homeowners and to support the labor of producers.
