Naci Talat’s letters recount the challenges he faced during the four months spent in Erenköy and the call for national struggle he made. In one of his letters, while mentioning the adverse weather conditions, he expresses his yearning for his family:
“Do not worry or be anxious about me. Send me a family photo taken at once. I have missed you all so much.”
In another letter, he describes the destruction brought by the war and the violence of the struggle. This heartbreaking letter, filled with mournful memories, bears the marks of a crucial period for the Turkish Cypriot people:
“During the three days of terrible war, I was in Antakya. You can probably imagine the horror of those days…”
By sharing these letters, İncirli brings back to memory a resistance that will not be forgotten for generations, also revealing the depth of feelings and thoughts. The Erenköy Resistance continues to hold an important place in the collective memory of today’s Turkish Cypriot society.
