An estate officer in Çamlıbey has been arrested under accusations of fraud involving the sale of two fields. The suspect, identified as M.K., had reportedly agreed to sell the fields for 280,000 Sterling and initially received 127,640 Sterling before transferring the lands to another company.
Investigations revealed that M.K. sold the fields to an individual named H.A., while also transferring the same lands to a different business, continuing to receive payment from the buyer. This situation is considered to constitute the crime of “Provision of Money through Fraud.”
A three-day extension of the suspect’s detention was granted in connection with the crimes committed between March and April 2023. The police announced the arrest based on a complaint received. The arrest was carried out in accordance with a warrant issued by the Nicosia District Court.
On details of the investigation, it was learned that M.K. voluntarily provided a statement regarding the allegations against him. The police indicated that there are other individuals who need to be interviewed, and that inquiries at the Land Registry Office will also be significant.
The court has ruled for the suspect to remain in police custody for three days during the investigation process. Throughout this period, the accuracy of the charges is expected to be clarified through ongoing operations and examinations.
