The leader of the Republican Turkish Party (CTP), Sıla Usar İncirli, made significant statements during a meeting with the Cyprus Turkish Teachers’ Trade Union (KTÖS) about strengthening public education and schools. İncirli emphasized that this objective is among the party’s top priorities.
The meeting took place at the CTP Headquarters and was attended by CTP Secretary-General Mehmet Kale Kişi and the Secretary for Relations with Civil Society Organizations, Filiz Besim, along with İncirli. The KTÖS delegation included President Mustafa Baybora, General Secretary Burak Maviş, and members of the board of directors.
During the meeting, fundamental issues in education were addressed, and various solutions to these problems were discussed. Additionally, there was a mutual exchange of ideas on how to achieve the necessary transformation in education.
İncirli highlighted the importance of improving teachers’ working conditions and protecting their rights. He stated that it is the government’s responsibility to empower teachers with the necessary knowledge, tools, and support to effectively perform their duties.
Emphasizing the importance of children, he said, “Our children are our most precious assets.” He added that access to quality and free public education is one of the government’s fundamental responsibilities. He stressed the importance of collaborating with relevant stakeholders to resolve issues in education.
The KTÖS delegation provided CTP with detailed information about their efforts regarding the retirement scheme for young teachers, improving the quality of education, and increasing school capacities.
