Gökmen Davutoğlu, Director of the Department of Educational Common Services at the Ministry of National Education, announced that the in-service training program for teachers, scheduled for the 2026-2027 academic year, is underway. Various trainings aimed at enhancing teachers’ professional competencies are being provided within this framework.
Davutoğlu specified the dates for this year’s In-Service Training Week. Teachers affiliated with the Primary Education Department will receive training from September 1-10, while those associated with the General Secondary Education and Vocational Technical Education Departments will train from September 2-11. The trainings will take place in four different regions, namely Nicosia, Famagusta, Kyrenia, and Lefke.
This year’s training program particularly includes artificial intelligence literacy training for teachers across all subjects. Davutoğlu indicated that the trainings are tailored considering the teachers’ subject areas and areas of expertise.
During these trainings, teachers will receive both theoretical and practical information about the fundamental concepts of artificial intelligence, how it can be utilized in educational processes, and how they can benefit from this technology in their respective fields. The aim is for teachers to gain experience with AI tools and to enrich their lesson content using these technologies.
Davutoğlu emphasized that practical trainings are conducted in computer laboratories with a capacity of 35 individuals and that these processes will significantly contribute to the professional development of teachers. He noted that the goal is to ensure teachers start the new academic year with enhanced capabilities.
