The Ministry of Health has urged individuals undergoing treatment in IVF centers in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus who have concerns related to sperm or egg donation to contact the Ministry.
The Ministry announced that it has initiated a comprehensive investigation following reports in international media about the use of sperm or eggs that do not match the donor information requested by patients at certain IVF centers. Ongoing inspections related to this issue have been mentioned.
The Ministry stated that individuals who were informed about the use of a specific sperm or egg donor but were treated with a donor contrary to these records could file a report with the Ministry. This process has been emphasized as being crucial for patient safety and the provision of accurate genetic information.
Citizens of the Republic of Cyprus or other citizens residing abroad have been advised that they can submit their claims with supporting information and documentation to [email protected] It was also stated that the applications would be evaluated under confidentiality principles.
The Ministry of Health reiterated its priority for both conducting IVF procedures in accordance with legislation and for ensuring the health rights of children, as well as providing accurate information.
