Independence Path (BY) supported the Republican Turkish Party’s (CTP) call for an extraordinary meeting, demanding that concrete demands be thoroughly discussed at this gathering. BY emphasized the importance of the Assembly’s meeting regarding the security agenda, stating that the solution requires concrete steps to be taken.
The party’s statement highlighted the urgent need for shelter houses and violence prevention centers for women to be established in every region. Additionally, it was noted that police units should operate 24 hours a day with adequate personnel to combat violence against women. This indicates critical importance in solving a social issue.
Furthermore, the removal of identity checks for entering and exiting the country and the need for police to be under civil authority were expressed. Independence Path articulated their belief that these measures would enhance security in the country and also mentioned that existing work permits should be renewed, provided that unemployment does not drop below 5%.
The statement emphasized the need for shutting down individuals and companies associated with human trafficking and informal work to prevent these activities. It was also stated that universities should be held accountable for those they bring into the country under the guise of students.
Demand for Closure of Nightclubs and Casinos
Independence Path also pointed out the necessity of closing nightclubs and ending the casino system. The party stressed that the transformation of Northern Cyprus into a virtual betting center must be prevented, calling for the implementation of decisive policies in this regard.
Reorganization of Public Transportation Necessary
Additionally, it was suggested to halt new car dealership permits and to strengthen public finances. In this context, it was emphasized that individual vehicle-oriented transportation policies should be terminated and that a regular and accessible free public transportation network covering all regions should be established.
