These goods included sexual enhancement drugs, herbal remedies, car spare parts, and computer components. One more person has been arrested in connection with this incident.
The investigation into the owners of the previously seized products, Ş.A., T.B., and D.B., has expanded further. It has been determined that the sexual enhancement drugs and herbal remedies smuggled from Istanbul were ordered by M.G., reinforcing the smuggling allegations.
Following the incident, M.G. was presented in court yesterday. Details of the case were made public during the hearing. Police stated that the three suspects located in front of the Ercan Airport Arrivals Terminal had brought the products, valued at 2 million 824 thousand 573 TL and 95 kuruş, into the country without declaring them at customs.
The products were reportedly identified by customs officers at bus stops. Police confirmed that they launched an investigation leading to the arrest of the suspects. According to their statements, the sexual enhancement products had been purchased for M.G. from Istanbul and brought to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC). M.G. was summoned to Haspolat Police Station.
M.G. turned himself in on September 9, 2026, with police announcing that he had previously received a prison sentence for a similar crime and currently has an ongoing suspended case. The court prohibited M.G. from leaving the country, required him to deposit a cash guarantee of 80 thousand TL, and to have two guarantors sign 500 thousand TL surety bonds each.
This operation highlights the increasing smuggling activities across the country and raises the need for enhanced inspections at Ercan Airport. Customs officials stated they will continue their efforts to prevent similar incidents in the future.
