Prime Minister Ünal Üstel held meetings with multiple companies and insurance firms in Istanbul regarding the recovery of the Filo Jet passenger ship, which capsized off the coast of Kyrenia. During this process, Finance Minister and Deputy Minister of Public Works and Transportation Özdemir Berova made statements about the ongoing search and rescue operations for the ship’s recovery.
Berova emphasized that Prime Minister Üstel has been regularly updating the families of the missing and the press, stressing the importance of sharing developments with the public. Following the ship disaster, it was noted that search and rescue efforts are actively continuing. Berova indicated that Prime Minister Üstel’s talks in Istanbul would contribute to the process with companies in Turkey.
Details of the Discussions
In his meetings in Istanbul, Berova stated that Üstel addressed topics with firms and insurance companies involved in the ship’s recovery. He mentioned that a briefing was provided to Üstel at the conclusion of these meetings, and after calculations were made, the process would continue in Ankara. Today, it was indicated that Prime Minister Üstel would have a final meeting with officials from the Republic of Turkey.
Berova expressed that this meeting presents an important opportunity for clarifying the ship’s recovery process, stating that all efforts are proceeding meticulously.
Search Efforts by TCG ALEMDAR
Prime Minister Üstel also evaluated the ongoing search efforts aimed at reaching the missing after the maritime accident. Providing information about the operations of TCG ALEMDAR and TCG IŞIN, Üstel noted that TCG ALEMDAR continues its search activities in the region, while TCG IŞIN temporarily deviated from its duty area due to fuel replenishment.
Üstel stated that once the fuel replenishment is complete, TCG IŞIN will rejoin the operations and the search activities will continue. He added that both vessels conducting searches in deep waters possess the necessary technical capabilities, and changes in assignments due to maintenance and fuel supply reasons would be made when necessary.
