In Gönyeli, three individuals were arrested for taking 10,000 TL dropped by a person and spending it instead of reporting it to the police. The suspects, identified as H.A. (M-32), H.A. (F-32), and S.Ç. (M-21), were detained following an investigation into the fate of the stolen money.
The incident occurred on August 11, 2026, on Şehit Hüseyin Amca Street. According to reports, an individual named M.A. lost 10,000 TL in cash after dropping it. After finding the money, H.A. and H.A. did not return it to the police and instead took it for themselves. Once the police were alerted to the situation, they reviewed security camera footage to identify the suspects.
Following the incident, H.A. and H.A. were taken to the Gönyeli Police Station. As the investigation deepened, it became clear that S.Ç. was also involved in the case. S.Ç. confessed that he had received 8,000 TL from H.A. on August 12, 2026, despite knowing the money was stolen.
All three suspects were arrested on August 26. As of now, the police investigation is ongoing, examining how the stolen money was spent and the whereabouts of the remaining amount.
Police officer Kaan Eyüpoğlu stated in court that the suspects were identified through security footage and that they were granted an additional day for processing. The court approved the police’s request for detention, ruling that the suspects must remain in custody for an extra day.
