During an operation in Nicosia, O.T., who exhibited suspicious behavior, was stopped by the police. A search revealed that O.T. was in possession of approximately 22 grams of cannabis, various synthetic cannabinoid substances, and 15 Pregabalin pills prescribed under a green prescription in his hotel room.
On August 26, 2026, around 15:20, O.T. was walking along Girne Street in Nicosia when he was intercepted by personnel from the Crimes Prevention Unit. When the police checked his shorts, they found approximately 2 grams of cannabis in the left front pocket and a synthetic cannabinoid substance measuring 9.5 centimeters in length.
After being evaluated as a suspicious individual, O.T. was subjected to a search in his hotel room in Nicosia. The police indicated that a search of the room resulted in the discovery of 20 grams of cannabis in a drawer of the bedside table, along with various sizes of synthetic cannabinoid papers and 15 Pregabalin pills.
The police also obtained a voluntary statement from O.T. and announced that the seized drugs would be sent to the State Chemistry Laboratory for analysis. Furthermore, it was stated that the suspect was arrested to be brought before the court on charges of drug possession and violations of the Drug and Pharmacy Law.
In court, an initial request was made for an additional day of detention for O.T., which was approved by the judge. As the investigation continues, more information is expected to be gathered based on the suspect’s statements and findings in the further proceedings.
