A 49-year-old woman, E.T., who killed her husband with a 25 cm knife in Alayköy, has been brought back to court. E.T. attacked her husband with 30 stabbing blows, resulting in his death. As more details of the case emerged, it was revealed that the suspect’s detention has been extended by an additional 8 days.
The incident occurred on August 22, 2026, around 10:30 PM. E.T. took the knife from the kitchen while her husband was sleeping and entered the bedroom. The murder was carried out with 30 stabs to her husband Cumali İsmail Taşdemir’s neck, waist, and back.
Immediately after the incident, E.T. went to the Nicosia Police Department and surrendered. In her statement, she confessed to committing the murder, and it was later revealed that she had previously undergone psychological treatment and was on medication. The police reported that E.T. was arrested and that the victim’s body was taken to the hospital morgue for an autopsy.
The police stated that the investigation is ongoing, and additional statements will be taken along with a review of the surveillance footage. Additionally, it was announced that E.T. will undergo a mental health evaluation at the Barış Mental Health and Neurological Diseases Hospital.
