Changes in Fruit Prices
Significant differences in fruit and vegetable prices have been observed at the open market in Nicosia. Notably, there have been considerable price increases for certain fruits. For instance, figs, which thrive in Cyprus’s climate, are sold for 400 TL, while strawberries are priced at 350 TL. Pomegranates and ginnap are available for 300 TL, and kiwis are priced at 250 TL.
In other fruit varieties, grapes and plums are sold for 200 TL, while cherries are waiting for consumers at 100 TL. Besides high-priced fruits, there are also more affordable options available. Apricots, apples, and peaches are being sold for 100 TL, and melons are offered at 70 TL.
Fluctuations in Vegetable Prices
A similar trend is observed in vegetable prices. Mushrooms are notably priced at 280 TL, while green beans and yellow beans are selling for 250 TL. Okra and quince are priced at 200 TL. Among other vegetables, tomatoes and eggplants are being sold for 60 TL, while potatoes and stuffed grape leaves are priced at 70 TL. Onions are presented at the market for 80 TL.
These fluctuations seem likely to influence consumers’ shopping preferences. The way prices change may lead to diverse expectations among buyers. Consumers may pay closer attention to selecting products that fit their budgets.
