Turkish Land Forces Commander General Metin Tokel visited the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus on August 22, 2026, to inspect the troops stationed there. After attending the handover ceremony at the Cyprus Turkish Peace Forces Command, Tokel conducted various inspections at the local units.
Following the handover ceremony, Tokel met with Foreign Minister Tahsin Ertuğruloğlu. During this meeting, discussions were held regarding the presence of the Turkish Armed Forces in Cyprus and its significant role in the region. Lieutenant General Sebahattin Kılınç, Commander of the Cyprus Turkish Peace Forces, also accompanied Tokel.
