Festival Details
The 16th International Nicosia Folk Dance Festival will commence on August 27, 2026, with the support of the Nicosia Turkish Municipality. The festival will kick off with the Cyprus Night event. This year, the festival will feature participation from countries such as Turkey, Italy, Iran, and Brazil, and is organized in collaboration with institutions like the Nicosia Folklore Association, FOGEM, TUFAD, the Youth Center Union, and HASDER.
The opening event, Cyprus Night, will take place on August 27 at the Erdinç Gündüz Square in İplik Pazarı. The event will include folk dance workshops, a concert by Grup Ottantik, and a DJ performance. Additionally, participants will be offered delicacies from Cypriot cuisine.
Event Schedule
On the second day of the festival, August 28, guest teams will make various visits. That evening at 20:00, a parade and opening night is planned at Kızılbaş Park. The main performances of the festival will be held on August 29 and 31 at Kızılbaş Park, free for the audience.
On Sunday, August 30, beach days will be organized at Lido Beach. Following this event, various beauty and dance competitions will take place on Associations Street. The festival will conclude on Tuesday, September 1, at 20:30 with a closing ceremony and performances at Kızılbaş Park.
LTB President Mehmet Harmancı emphasized the collaboration of associations in organizing the festival and expressed pleasure in hosting the event. He also noted the significance of the festival coinciding with World Peace Day, wishing that guest teams would leave with beautiful friendships.
FOLKDER President Hatice Kıray mentioned that an entertaining week awaits the audience and invited everyone to the Cyprus Night on the opening day.
