Details of the Operation
A narcotics operation carried out in the village of İnönü, near Gazimağusa, concluded with the seizure of 1.5 kg of drugs following an ambush conducted in the Fennara Hill area. The Narcotics and Smuggling Prevention Directorate teams moved into action upon receiving a tip-off regarding the drugs, initiating a thorough investigation.
Initially, the teams started a 6-day surveillance process aiming to locate the drugs that were hidden under the rocks. During the initial inspections, they discovered 56 bags containing cannabis-type narcotic substances hidden beneath the rocky terrain. Following this development, the narcotics teams implemented a special operation plan dubbed “Wolf Den.”
Arrests of the Suspects
On August 13, during the surveillance, a suspect named O.G.K. was caught in the act as he approached the location where the drugs were found and was arrested. His statement indicating that he had left the drugs in the area together with Y.Ö. expanded the scope of the operation. The teams detained Y.Ö. on the same day, initiating the investigation process.
Both suspects were brought before the court, which decided that they should be held in custody for 3 days. Police officer Mehmet Şemet provided details about the process in court, stating that the investigation had just begun. With the evidence collected and testimonies obtained, plans are underway to further expand the operation.
