Famagusta Municipality is implementing a comprehensive Traffic Master Plan aimed at enhancing traffic regulations and pedestrian safety. Various projects are being carried out to address the specific needs in different areas. These projects focus on intersection construction, sidewalk arrangements, road markings, and parking spaces, with the goal of managing traffic more efficiently.
The Traffic Commission, chaired by Mine Karaca, along with traffic consultant Can Kara and other commission members, has conducted field assessments throughout the city to identify existing needs. These findings are being gradually implemented in line with the Traffic Master Plan, ensuring that critical points become safer.
According to statements, traffic regulations are being implemented on Üç Çakılar Street to enhance road safety. Considering the current transportation needs in the Altıok region, the intersection has been renovated, and road markings have been reorganized at the DAÜ Northeast Junction to ensure safe entry and exit.
In the Harika Neighborhood, undefined road connections on İnanç Road have been clarified, thus ensuring clearer passage priorities at the intersection of five roads. Moreover, work continues to resolve the traffic and parking chaos experienced on Savaş Street.
Mine Karaca stated that the ongoing work addresses the needs of different regions in the city. Karaca emphasized, “As the Traffic Commission, we will continue to produce permanent solutions that make life easier for drivers and pedestrians. Each regulation is a part of our goal to create a safer and more organized Famagusta.”
The municipality indicated that the efforts are not limited to specific areas; new regulations will also be made throughout the city based on safety, usage intensity, and priority order. Traffic issues will be addressed through comprehensive planning.
