Two separate traffic accidents on the main roads of Nicosia-Famagusta and Famagusta-Iskele resulted in four injuries. The accidents occurred last night and in the early morning hours.
First Accident: Collision at Halkbank Roundabout
According to the statements made by the Police Press Office, the first accident occurred around 00:30 at the Halkbank Roundabout on the Nicosia-Famagusta main road. A 30-year-old man named Avni Yusuf Çiftçioğlu was driving his vehicle, registered under license plate AA 397 H, and entered the roundabout carelessly while heading east. The vehicle crashed into the bordering stones of the roundabout, lost control, and collided with the steel barriers at the end of the road after exiting the roundabout. Although no one was injured in this accident, it was reported that the driver was under the influence of alcohol and refused to take a breathalyzer test. Legal action has been initiated against Çiftçioğlu.
Second Accident: Vehicle Overturns
The second accident occurred around 04:00 at the St. Barnabas Roundabout on the Famagusta-Iskele main road. A 21-year-old woman named Berfin Nur Kakun lost control of her vehicle, which was registered under license plate NB 802, while driving south. After hitting the bordering stones of the roundabout, the vehicle overturned. In this accident, both the driver Berfin Nur Kakun and her passengers Melisa Nil Karakuş (20), Elif Aydın (20), and Canpolat Aydın (20) were injured. It was reported that the injured individuals were being treated at the Famagusta State Hospital and remained under observation.
Police investigations into both accidents are ongoing. Authorities are advising drivers to be careful and drive slowly.
