Prime Minister Ünal Üstel announced that three new bills are under consideration for the Command of Security Forces. These bills are expected to strengthen the personal rights of the personnel and respond to changing needs. In his written statement, Üstel emphasized that these regulations are not just legislative changes, but also a reflection of the willingness to find solutions to the problems faced by Security Forces personnel.
Continuing his remarks, Prime Minister Üstel said, “We are passing the long-awaited regulations regarding the personal rights of our Security Forces personnel through the Council of Ministers. Our goal is to rapidly advance the process by making the necessary decisions and to implement the regulations expected by our soldiers. It is our responsibility to give due importance to this dedicated personnel for the security of our state and the peace of our people.”
With the new regulations, there is an aim to create new positions suitable for the needs of the Command of Security Forces and to update existing positions. Additionally, it is intended to bring the salary scales of military personnel to an equal level with other public units. This situation will be reorganized under the Law No. 47/2010 on the Regulation of Monthly Salaries and Other Allowances of Public Employees.
Another regulation aims to ensure that personnel whose status changes within the Command of Security Forces do not lose their previous service years. Üstel stated, “The change in our personnel’s status does not undermine their service. The efforts made for the state should not go unpaid. In this regard, we will address grievances that may arise from previous services,” he added.
Future Regulations on the Horizon
Ünal Üstel emphasized that the current regulations will not be the end, stating that they will take new steps in the upcoming period. He mentioned that they have implemented the long-awaited regulations concerning personal rights and that they will not stop in this area. “We will continue to listen to the voices of our soldiers. Taking into account the current economic and social conditions, we will undertake regulations that will advance their personal rights further,” he said.
Üstel also noted that the completed regulations would become law over time. Addressing the personnel of the Security Forces, he said, “Rest assured; it is very important for us to uphold the rights of those who serve selflessly for the state. We have not ignored the long-standing issues and we will not do so,” he said. During this time, he emphasized that in addition to strengthening the institutional structure of the Security Forces, they will also protect the rights and future of the personnel wearing that uniform.
Visit to Nicosia
Ünal Üstel also visited the Metehan, Ortaköy, and Göçmenköy areas of Nicosia. Meeting with party members and local residents, Üstel expressed that the demand for change in Nicosia is growing stronger. He noted that the public wants a mayor who listens, is accessible, and solution-focused, stating that the UBP organizations are carrying out fieldwork for the Turkish Municipality of Nicosia.
Üstel expressed gratitude to the Security Forces, who constantly work for the security of the state and the peace of the people, highlighting that they will do their utmost for their rights, future, and expectations.
