New Recreation Area Opens in Agillar Village
The Iskele Municipality has established a new social living area in Agillar Village with the goal of improving the quality of life in rural areas. The opening of the Agillar Village Recreation Area, built on an area of 2,400 square meters, took place on August 13, 2026. The inauguration ceremony was held with the participation of local residents and village leaders.
Iskele Mayor Hasan Sadıkoğlu and his wife Özlem Sadıkoğlu attended the opening ceremony. The event started with a moment of silence followed by the singing of the National Anthem. The evening, which was enlivened by entertainment activities for children, rewarded participants with various gifts to commemorate the day.
Importance and Future of the Project
Ali Akkoyun, the village headman of Agillar, stated in his speech during the opening that the recreation area is a significant necessity for the village. Akkoyun expressed his gratitude to everyone who contributed to the project.
Mayor Hasan Sadıkoğlu emphasized that their service mentality is not limited to the city center and that they value all villages equally. He noted that the project established in Agillar Village will greatly contribute to social life beyond being a mere physical investment.
Sadıkoğlu highlighted that the new social area will provide quality time opportunities for children, youth, and families, stating, “The best investment a municipality can make is in its people.”
The recreation area includes a modern basketball court, walking trails, soccer field, relaxation zones, and landscaping arrangements. With these features, the Agillar Village Recreation Area is aimed at serving as both a social living space and a fun event center.
