A driver operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol was apprehended in Demirhan despite having his license previously suspended. The suspect, a 54-year-old identified as R.E., was stopped around 12:30 PM on August 21, 2026, while driving toward the Erülkü Roundabout from the direction of Nicosia. However, he failed to comply with the stop order and continued driving.
The police reported that R.E. continued in the direction of Gazimağusa and was arrested by the teams upon reaching the Demirhan traffic lights. An alcohol test revealed that R.E. had 240 milligrams of alcohol in his system. It was noted that he had also been detected driving with 281 milligrams of alcohol in Demirhan on August 17, 2026, at which point his license was again suspended.
