The Regulatory Authority for Information Technologies and Communications (BTHK) and telecommunications operators have taken significant steps regarding 5G infrastructure. It has been announced that 5G services will be available starting from November 15. In this regard, additional authorization contracts have been signed between BTHK and the operators.
With the announcement made by the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, it was indicated that 5G services will be provided on the 700 MHz and 3600 MHz frequency bands, and regulations regarding the details of this application have been established. Agreements with Vodafone Mobile Operations Limited and Cyprus Mobile Telecommunications Limited (Cyprus Telecom) are being finalized to complete the necessary infrastructure preparations for the launch of the service.
5G Authorization and Quality Standards
Thanks to the newly developed regulations, the 5G authorization for the 700 MHz and 3600 MHz frequencies, which will begin two years earlier than planned, will be effective starting November 15. This authorization will be valid for a total of 20 years, until November 15, 2046.
Additionally, it was noted that the conditions outlined in the contract include specifications regarding the quality of service and coverage area. This aims to ensure that 5G services are delivered in the best possible manner to users.
Coordination Process and Ongoing Work
Under the coordination of BTHK, efforts are ongoing for the transition process of 5G services. These initiatives, which will involve relevant parties, aim to make the upcoming launch of 5G services on November 15 an important development for our country.
