During the first seven months of 2026, the number of tourists arriving in South Cyprus was reported to be 2 million 238 thousand. In the same period of 2025, this figure had been recorded at 2 million 432 thousand. In July of the previous year, there was only a 1 percent decrease compared to the same month of the prior year. It was announced that the total number of tourists visiting the country in July 2026 reached 582 thousand.
Support from British and Israeli Tourists
Despite a decrease in visitor numbers from key tourism markets like Poland and Germany, it has been noted that British and Israeli tourists significantly contributed to the economy. According to data released by the Statistical Service of Cyprus, the number of tourists from the UK in July 2026 was 185,981, accounting for 31.9% of the total tourist arrivals. This indicates that British tourists hold the largest share in the sector.
Visitors from Other Countries
The number of tourists arriving from Israel was identified as 119,293, making up 20.5% of the total arrivals. There were 36,912 visitors from Poland, while 21,338 came from Germany (3.7%), and Sweden contributed 19,899 visitors (3.4%). The significant contributions of British and Israeli citizens to South Cyprus tourism are accelerating the sector’s recovery, even as declines are ongoing in other markets.
