Two suspects, E.D. and Y.D., were arrested in relation to a drug investigation that followed an incident involving a vehicle in Gönyeli. During a check of the vehicle, E.D. was found unconscious while Y.D. was arrested and taken to court. During the hearing, two substances suspected to be drugs were seized from the suspects’ belongings.
The details of the incident emerged around 21:19 on August 22, 2026, during a patrol by the Gönyeli Police Station. E.D. and Y.D. were stopped in the vehicle with license plate RA 401, and Y.D.’s unconscious state was reported to the police. Upon inspection, a piece of paper believed to contain drugs was found in E.D.’s clothing.
Additionally, two burnt ends of rolled cigarettes thought to contain a mix of tobacco and drugs were also seized from the vehicle. In light of these findings, both suspects were arrested in the act and subsequently brought back to court. During the trial, an extension of time was requested while the facts were presented.
The police reported that no illegal materials were found during a search at their shared residence in Güzelyurt. However, they stated that they are awaiting results from the State Chemistry Laboratory to determine the type and quantity of the substances sent for analysis.
Blood samples from the arrested suspects were also sent to the laboratory for examination, while the court granted the police force an additional two-day period for investigation purposes. With these developments, the progression of the process is eagerly awaited.
