A tragic traffic accident occurred in Ziyamet Bağlar Mevkii, resulting in the loss of two brothers, which deeply affected the local population. The accident happened the day before yesterday, claiming the life of Günay Kırlar at the scene. Unsurprisingly, family, relatives, and friends expressed their profound sorrow, and later, his brother Mehmet Kırlar also lost his life in the hospital.
After the accident, Mehmet Kırlar was initially taken to Gazimağusa State Hospital. As his condition worsened, he was transferred to Lefkoşa Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital and finally to Near East University Hospital. Despite all medical efforts, Mehmet Kırlar passed away on August 31, 2026, around 01:30.
Details of the Accident and Investigation Process
Following the accident, the driver M.T. (K-23) was arrested. It is alleged that M.T. was driving the vehicle with license plate KE 516 carelessly at the time of the incident. Initially, the driver lost control of the vehicle on a curve, crashing into a car driven by Halil Küçük (E-32) coming from the opposite direction. The vehicle then swerved and collided with the car driven by Mehmet Kırlar, which had license plate MP 494.
As a result of the accident, Ceren Nisa Artık (K-16), Meryem Güngör (K-24), and Yaren Artık (K-18), who were in the KE 516 vehicle, were also injured. The injured were taken to nearby hospitals. However, along with Günay Kırlar, the number of fatalities in the accident rose to two.
