The leader of the Republican Turkish Party (CTP), Sıla Usar Incirli, visited the regions of Lefke and Güzelyurt affected by severe weather conditions. Along with MPs Armağan Candan and Salahi Şahiner, and CTP’s Güzelyurt mayoral candidate Reşat Kansoy, they assessed the on-site damage. Incirli engaged in discussions with locals regarding the issues they are facing and the damages incurred.
Incirli noted that significant damage to the electrical infrastructure resulted from the heavy rainfall, hail, and winds. She emphasized that many trees in Güzelyurt, Lefke, and surrounding villages were uprooted, and reported that the KIB-TEK teams were working urgently on the ground to restore electricity to the affected areas.
Damage to the Electrical Infrastructure Takes Center Stage
CTP President highlighted that the electrical infrastructure is the most critical point of damage resulting from adverse weather conditions. She pointed out that the hail adversely affected citrus and olive production, leading to damage in the produce on the trees. Additionally, it was learned that fresh vegetables and fruits were also impacted by this situation.
During her visit, Incirli declared that farmers have suffered significant losses and the effects of this damage would still be felt in the coming period. She emphasized the importance of allowing producers to report their situations without having to apply individually.
Rapid Initiation of Damage Assessment is Necessary
Incirli stated that damage assessment efforts need to be initiated quickly without delay. She expressed that necessary steps must be taken to address the grievances of the producers through these assessments. She also added that she would closely monitor the situation in the region following the visit.
