Two suspects, K.B. (48) and D.D. (25), were arrested after shooting at the sign of a nightclub in Alayköy with a shotgun. They were apprehended in Girne following the incident. A search of their vehicle revealed a shotgun and 15 live cartridges. The incident occurred on August 28, 2026, and it is alleged that the suspects committed this armed attack due to the absence of the prostitute they had been assigned.
Following the incident, the court granted an additional three-day detention period for the suspects. When recounting their experience, the apprehended individuals protested in court, questioning, “What’s done is done, why should we remain in detention for three more days?”.
According to police statements, the suspects fired two shots at the nightclub sign in Alayköy around 00:30 on August 28, 2026. Following this shooting with a shotgun, police teams quickly launched efforts to identify the suspects.
The shotgun and cartridges recovered from the suspects’ vehicle were taken as evidence. The police confirmed that the suspects were caught in the act and that palm and facial swabs were taken for necessary examinations, which will be sent to the relevant units.
Additionally, it was reported that there are security camera footage and witness statements that need to be examined by the police. Considering the seriousness of the incident, the court decided that the suspects should remain in detention for three days.
