A theft incident in Cyprus has come to light involving a Kazakh woman who stole €4,500 from her ex-partner’s home after returning from Zurich. The woman identified as Y.B. was arrested upon her return to the country following the incident, which took place a month earlier.
The incident occurred on March 18, 2026, in Yeni Boğaziçi, a district of Gazimağusa. According to allegations, Y.B. took the money from the kitchen of her ex-partner’s villa and left the country. When the incident was reported to the police on July 15, it was determined that the suspect had left for abroad through Ercan Airport.
Police officer Hüseyin Oran detailed the incident during the court proceedings, stating that an arrest warrant was issued after Y.B. fled the country, and she was apprehended upon her return to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus on August 23, 2026. However, the stolen money has yet to be recovered.
Y.B. was granted provisional release pending trial by the court. The court stated that the suspect needed to deposit a cash guarantee of 100,000 TL and sign a personal guarantee bond of 2 million TL.
It has been reported that the investigation into the incident has been completed and information has been submitted to the court by the police to request appropriate guarantees. Following the procedures, Y.B. will continue to face trial until the cases are heard, despite being released.
