An operation named the “Circle Operation,” conducted by the Narcotics and Smuggling Prevention Directorate in Famagusta, led to a significant drug bust. As a result of the operation, 1 kilogram and 200 grams of cannabis was seized without a label. Two Nigerian citizens, K.T.C. and İ.D., were arrested in connection with the incident.
The police stated that they acted after receiving information about K.T.C. and İ.D. on August 19, 2026. Around 11:45 AM, the two suspects were identified inside a vehicle in the Karakol neighborhood. However, it was reported that they attempted to flee when the police tried to stop them. During their escape, they crashed into another vehicle and came to a halt.
During a search of K.T.C., a substance believed to be approximately one gram of cannabis was found in the pocket of his shorts. This substance was documented as evidence. The police also conducted a detailed search at their residences located on the same street.
In the search, another drug, estimated to be 1 kilogram and 200 grams of cannabis, was discovered in the wardrobe of the master bedroom. Police indicated that the investigation has just begun and the seized substances will be sent for analysis.
For security reasons related to the investigation, the police requested that the suspects be held for one day. The court ordered K.T.C. and İ.D. to be detained for one day pending the investigation process.
